📘 What is Jagratha Samithi?
Jagratha Samithi is a local protection platform for women and children that functions vigilantly at the grassroots level to ensure their rights, physical and mental well-being, and personal safety, and to prevent violence, rights violations, and social exclusion against them.
To establish a protection mechanism, Jagratha Samithis take urgent action and intervene immediately in issues within the locality that require prompt attention. The committees also work by addressing neglected cases resulting from the absence of various support mechanisms and by facilitating access to the legal protections and support systems available for women and children.

🎯 Objectives
- Protect women and children and ensure strong intervention against violence, abuse, and discrimination directed towards them.
- Receive complaints involving women and children and provide immediate assistance and support.
- Refer issues to the District Jagratha Samithi, Women’s Commission, and relevant Government agencies and support systems.
- Coordinate with agencies responsible for protecting the rights of women and girls.
- Create a safe and secure social environment for women and children.
- Form various community groups and establish participatory public support systems.
- Provide community support and monitoring for programmes and initiatives related to women and child welfare.
